stacking pixmaps

Hi..
I'm building an inteface for which I need stackable pixmaps.. 
Now I have read that this can't be achieved using  a gtk_pixmap,
and that I'd have to use Gdk stuff instead.
However, these pixmaps need to be able to recieve click events etc...
Is there an easy way to achieve this?
