I'm willing to bet the problem is that you have installed the glib2 RPM
(to let already-compiled programs *run*), but failed to install glib2-devel
which contains the stuff needed to *compile* programs.

There's also -devel packages for atk, pongo, and gtk2 (in fact, *most* packages
have a version 'foo' for *running* stuff and 'foo-devel' if you intend to build
software that uses it).
