cross-compiling Pango for embedded systems

I'm in the process of building GTK+ for an arm-linux target, destined for an 
embedded system, using the framebuffer backend. I'm currently trying to build 
Pango, and therefore fontconfig, freetype2, expat, etc.

Is it possible to build Pango with a single, "embedded" font, and avoid having 
to build all the font library maintenance code ? (not to mention disk and ram 
consumption)

Any tips would be much appreciated.
