How to draw a line between 2 buttons?

Hi, I just started learning gtk+ for my project. I have run into a problem. 
(humongous to me; probably trivial to many of you. =P)
I have two buttons on a window. I want to draw a line between the 2 buttons 
after they have been clicked to show their connection. I have no idea how I 
should go about doing it. to begin with, is it possible to have draw a line 
on a window, without using pixmap?
