when I do a configure in the new gtk-2.3.5 directort I get the following error message:
checking for freetype-config... /usr/bin/freetype-config
checking For sufficiently new FreeType (at least 2.0.1)... no
configure: error: Pango 1.2.0 and Xft backend is required for x11 target
I installed latest glib and pango sucessfully. I am on RedHat 7.3.
Yes, but have you installed FreeType 2.0.1 or later ?
http://www.freetype.org/ (there may well be an RPM around as well).
(You'll need to re-install pango once you've done this.)
