No it isn't incompatibilities. However, GTK+3 will not use GTK+2 themes (it uses a different theming engine). In your situation you will get the no-theme theme with GTK+3, which has the defects with GtkFixed which you have mentioned. As I said, the Adwaita theme also does not work correctly with GtkFixed.
