IMHO, SawMill is the window manager that integrates best with Gnome currently, and it's also much lighter then E. Although I have not seen ChainSaw yet. Qt may seem faster than GTK only because it didn't support pixmap themes until recently. You can see that SawMill uses Gtk (I think) and is very fast.
