Hi and thanks to those that replied. I will endeavour to contact the developers of the Gtk+ spreadsheet programs and get some info out of them.
I've done some very basic testing here, and drawing strings (at least under Windows) using System.Drawing is over 10 times faster than Gdk or Cairo (Cairo being the marginally faster of those two). Can I expect the same results under Linux?
