I think we need to do something to make sure we can get back in touch with bug reporters to get extra information. There are a couple Windows bugs I just responded to where we really need more info to properly diagnose but it's not clear if we can get back in touch with the people who reported the bugs.
I'll other people who use trac to see how they do it without getting spam problems from allowing unrestricted registration.
