I noticed some stale Gtk modules in my global package database. I just
cleaned everything and recompiled. The demo runs fine now. I assume it
was just a linking error.

So, I think we can do a point release that merely works around the
finalizer problem.

P.S.: I fixed the finally-problem in the GnomeVFS code. I hope it's
correct now...
