I could not find any fix to this function anywhere. There have been similar problems elsewhere, maybe you've fixed those? Anyway, I've fixed this with a patch that's now in code.haskell.org. It would be great if you could try that again. With respect to windows, the cabal file now always build the modules Plug and Socket that apparently are available on Windows since Gtk 2.8 (which incidentally is the lowest version we now support). I hope this will all work on Windows!
