You need to make sure that the column layout for your TreeModel matches the data that will be returned by your fetch query. Then, for each tuple in the returned dataset, you need to append a new row to the TreeModel and write into each column in that new row the appropriate field in each tuple.
As for updating records in the database if data is changed in a particular row, I would assume that you have data stored in each row that will allow you to write an insert query for the corresponding record in the database in order to update its data.
