Confirmed. And this explains some very annoying problems that I've had while
trying to build debian packages of this.

A patch would be welcome (try looking at what gtkmm does) if I don't get to
this.

This API got changed very recently in glib/gio.  I don't know if the version of
glib/gio with this change has been released yet or not.
