for this, I'd rather see sigc accepting smart pointers, like boost::bind does.
(and that what this bug is about, implement the mechanism to allow boost::bind
to accepte the smart pointer. This is safer as the binder actually keep a copy
of it.

Your merged patch work well on Solaris.  I would say the
merged-refined-gcc4.3-solaris-fix.patch should replace and obsolete all the
previous patches for this bug, and it can be applied by anyone with commit
access.
