If it's part of the C API it should be wrapped in libgda-uimm. If it is not in the C API, then it wont be in libgda-uimm too. In libgda-uimm, it is not necessary to use GValues because there are template methods such as set_value(), get_value(), set_default_value(), set_reference_value() and get_reference_value() that make it possible to use regular data types. As far as your other questions, sorry I can't quite answer them because I don't know that much about the underlying C API. You might have better luck asking on the libgda list.
