On the GParted project, we append the git log to the old ChangeLog when
a tar ball is created (e.g., make dist).
The code can be found in the "dist-hook" target of the Makefile.am at
the following link:

The credit for the code belongs to another project, though I do not
recall where I first saw this implemented.
