Simple.....has the odometer been distorted in any way.  This could be
turned back, or the unit replaced, or the bike on the track with no
speedometer fit for a while, or the bike on the street with the sending
unit disconnected, or.....

I understand the nature of your kidding on this one.....but the state of
New Mexico has three categories to sign off on for the back of the title
at time of transfer--is it "actual miles", not actual miles due to
odometer limitations (and thus "greater than indicated") or "unknown".

On the other hand.....if "actual miles" makes sense to the New Mexico MVD,
then maybe your point is very well taken.  It really must not make sense
to the rest of us.  :)
