It began fairly soon after I bought the bike (3,000 miles on it). It didn't occur prior to my changing the oil and putting the Mobil 1 in. I don't recall the time lag. But it kept getting worse and at first I didn't suspect the oil and was trying to see if Yamaha would warranty the problem. (They wouldn't; even though it had less than 5,000 miles, it was past the three-year period. They did later replace the ABS unit, though.) When someone suggested an oil change, I figured with little to lose, I'd try that. Hasn't recurred since then.
