we have a original Corbin back rest that we can part with. if you use the
GIVI bags, I can not find a way to mount the top case and still use the
backrest. the top case does the job if you add a cushion to it.

Actually, if you do use / plan to use a Givi topcase, get its own-brand
backrest that will screw right into the lid. There are two different models,
a thin tall one and a short thick one. I have both, and different passengers
prefer one or the other. They are very inexpensive, quite cushy but not
soft, made of some kind of rubbery compound that will take rain, heat, or
whatever. They also sit way higher than the Corbin one so are more comfy
under heavy acceleration. With my lady, the main contact point is about bra
strap height (yes, I know, SA's). Let me know if you'd like to see a pic.
No, I mean a pic of the backrest, not of the lady in her bra.
I believe some kind of backrest / top case or whatever is in order if you
ride two-up a lot. One thing is knowing when you are about to accelerate
heavily (and having a grip on the bars), and a completely different one is
being back there completely unaware. Good for you if you can ride all day
holding on to dear life using the passenger handles, but I'll pass on that.
I don't want to dump my passenger in the middle of the road, and don't like
her to hug me to stay on. Er, not while on the bike, at least. Well you know
what I mean, don't you?. Uh, see you, I better go for a cold shower now...
;-)
Roberto, laying an easy one for the SA's.
