Mike,
The Concours for better or worse has been in
production
for about 15-16 years. I believe the bike for it's
intended purpose is one of the most underated,under-
stated Sport Tour,currently available motorcycles
out there. In it's years of production Kawasaki honed
and refined the Concours to near perfection of it's
eightys design all while keeping costs down.
To compare the GTS with the Concours is a little
unfair due to the time of design factor. However to
answer your questions on ride, coverage, and re-
liability is as follows.
RIDE: The GTS feels more sport bike with solid stable,
yet agile for its size handling. The Concours feels
slightly more plush more tour than sport yet also
exibits very stable 80-90 mph high speed handling.
Triple digits however are not its forte.
Coverage: Here the Concours excells.Equipped with a
Rife windshield it can be eerily quiet behind the
controls. This is probably one of it's most missed
attributes for me.No wind turbulance , just quiet
calm. I've yet to find the right combo for my GTS
in this area.
RELIABILITY: Maybe,a slight edge to the Concours
with its shaft drive and do it yourself screw&lock-
nut valve ajustment.
The bottom line is, you're the final judge. Go find
your nearest testride and make it a long one because
the Concours like the GTS will grow on you.
