A gear wrench is a brand of ratcheting box end wrenches. The same idea as
craftsman or snap on or mac or matco, just smaller and cheaper. They are made
in China or some far east country, but the durability seems to be adequate. I
use mine 4 days a week and have had them for almost a year without any
problems. The single biggest advantage to the "gear wrench" brand of
ratcheting wrenches is the relatively compact size of the ratcheting end. It
is much smaller than any of the other mentioned wrenches. They do not
reverse, like I know snap ons do, (others may or may not). To reverse these,
flip them over..... As I mentioned previously, they come in a moderatly long
standard length and a stubby variety. Sizes start at 8 mm and go up from
there. I highly reccomend them to any tool o holic or any weekend warrior.
They also make a nifty little adapter for them that allows you to attach a
1/4, 3/8, or 1/2 drive socket to them if you need to use sizes in between the
particular gear wrenchs you have or if you are working in a tight space where
you have to use a socket but can not fit a ratchet in.
