Cold. That way the old has drained down from the above mentioned areas
and ensures that there is an accurate reading.

Yeah. I discovered the same thing in the middle of Montana. I can't
think of any reason as to why Yamaha did this, or rather, why they did
not indicate that that was the way they were going to ensure that the
oil level never got critical. I guess its like an electronic 'dipstick',
but I would hae liked to have had the pressure guage instead. Maybe
Yamaha thought we wouldn't check our oil level before riding. Humm....?
