What is your source of information on this? Think of the practicality of
making 5 production years of GTS's in one year. Yamaha had a REAL good idea
of projected sales figures after the first year of production. It is not
believable that they are going to overproduce by 4 years. Ask about any
Yamaha dealer if Yamaha is in the habit of overproducing any models. It is
something they avoid like the plague. They have adopted a fiscally
responsible attitude that Harley dealers describe by saying, "If they make
enough, they have made too many." Saturating the market drives retail prices
down and makes it tough for dealers to operate profitably. If Yamaha's, or
anyone else's for that matter, dealers are not profitable, they do not have
the resources to buy more product the next year. Therefore, the manufacturer
is very sensitive to retail sales, because it affects their ability to sell
wholesale. Further.... they do not have that many assembly lines, so to make
that many of any model means they are going to have to make less of something
else.
