Those wire lines drive me insane also.  I had a friend (highly intelligent,
almost genius sort of guy) that had very sensitive eyes.  He could not stand
using  a monitor that had any less than 75 mhz refresh rate.  He claimed
that the flicker was highly obvious, although most people are fine above 60
mhz.

And a very feasible one.  Ever look at a Sony (or any Trinitron-type)
monitor?  Ever noticed the 2 horizontal lines about 1/3 the way down from
the top and up from the bottom?  They are the wire shadows of the wires that
hold the aperture grill in place.  Most people don't notice them until I
point them out.  They'd drive me insane.
