I knew someone would say this, Suit yourself. The rag prevents it from being damged. If your lines are that hard you should have replaced them a long time ago. RSRBOB Personally, I would avoid crimping a brake line as you are suggesting. I'd be very hesitant to squash those hoses completely flat, which is what you're doing, for fear of damaging the rayon braiding and rubber. Especially as when rubber gets older it loses it's elasticity. Cheers Joe.
