...I caused such an uproar with my throttle body question. The best answer I
can give you Bob is found in the title of the book "Zen & the Art of
Motorcycle Maintenance". Simply put, some of us like to tinker with our
machines to try and tune them to perfection, if there is such a thing. Or as
the Greeks more crudely put it "When the devil has nothing better to do he s%^#*s
his children" :-)))

And now for the real reason: If my GTS didn't surge this badly I would not
resort to trying my own adjustments to fix Yamaha's defects. As you know I
played with the TPS, the 93/94 ECUs, the turn pots, etc. I thought maybe the
compensation can be found elsewhere i.e. the throttle bodies.

And now for an update to my travails. The borrowed throttle body port tools
(4 brass tubes with 6mm threads cut into them) I attached the vacuum hoses
to were so soft that one snapped off half way up the 6mm threads portion.
Cost for a replacement set, $60!!! At least I was lucky in my unluck because
the broken portion came out of the throttle body relatively easy (by my
fingers alone and gosh was it HOT). All I can say to the rest of you is be
very careful if you venture to do this adjustments with the same K&L brass
fittings I used. Now I will try to cut new threads into the tube and
hopefully finish the adjustments this weekend.
