Hello fellow listers and riders,
A friend of mine works at a local bike shop, Petes Cycle. They've moved
location so he had to help in the relocation and cleaning. While he was
helping to clean out the old shop area he came across some items
he "donated" to me. Knowing that I'm a Yamaha fan he gave me a beautiful
silver sparkle vintage Yamaha helmet with the Kenny Roberts railroad tracks
and another very interesting item.
I've never seen an advertisement for the GTS in a magazine much less on
TV but I have a video cassette with two short, albeit ridiculous,
commercials for the GTS and it's RADD swingarm concept. In the commercials
a little old lady is explaining the concept like a fussy school teacher.
Both commercials are almost identical...just a little editing in each to
make them seem a bit different.
The cassette has,Yamaha Motor Corp. U.S.A.,"History Lesson" NOT FOR
BROADCAST , printed on it's label so I can only assume it was only intended
for the dealers to view. I'm not sure what the point of it's existence is
but it is original.
The commercials aren't long, about 30 seconds each but I AM a big fan of
this vehicle as are all of you out there. The quality of the recording is a
little distorted but if any one wants a copy I would be happy to borrow
another VCR, buy a big package of tapes and make copies for anyone
interested. Memorabilia for this bike is damned rare but If I get enough
responses I'll check into total cost and I'll make 1 or 2 dollars from each
lister after shipping and handling. I'm not trying to make a mint here or
anything.
All those interested let me know through my email. [EMAIL PROTECTED]
