Also to wit regarding the dangers of life.
The other rally participant who DNF'd, was a fellow who was hit by a car - while he 
was standing on the sidewalk writing down the
info for a bonus. Some kids lost control of their car, ran up the sidewalk and hit our 
participant at an estimated 30-40 mph
throwing him through the air. Fortunately his riding gear saved him from any serious 
injury other than a bruised elbow and pelvis.
His bike was untouched - go figure!
