Okay everyone,
I apologize for the long absence regarding that GTS video but my friend,
Emily, is burning it to CD. For anyone still interested it will be
available. She had to buy some extra memory and finances are tight all
around when in school. I hope all interested parties understand.
Now for the bad stuff...
I'm on my way home at about 9:00 and am about a hundred yards from my
exit off I 95 to Rt. 40. There's a piece of debris about 4 inches wide, 4
inches high and 3 feet long smack dab in the center lane. Looked like a
railroad track/rail. I couldn't avoid it without the rear catching it and
throwing me so I hit it dead center at about 60.
I hear a clang (NOT the object flying out of the way) and I discover a
mild shake in the bars. I figure I busted the tire and exit onto Rt. 40 and
drift up to the light to see the damage. The slower I get the more of a ::
kathunk kathunk:: sound I get.
At the light I stop and lean over to survey the cause. There is an 8x4-
inch chunk that shattered off the side of the rim at the edge. The tire is
shredded
and the brake line is slashed clean through at the banjo bolt. It looks
like a landshark swam up and took a lovely semicircle bite out of the rim.
All this leads to one thing...This bike and it's design saved my butt.
The weird thing is I've never heard or met anyone that heard or met anyone
that shattered a rim on a bike.
Now it's time to explain this to the insurance agent.
                                                 Happy riding,
                                                        ~ Ted
