The pithy ruminations from Robert Wilson on
<Re: GTS-manual> were:

=> copywrite messages anywhere on it.
So what? IANAL, but as I understand it, the mere creation of any work,
including this e-mail message, grants copyright privileges to the author (in
the absence of any other agreement, such as one that grants rights to your
employer). Of course, without _registering_ that work for copyright purposes,
enforcement is difficult.
The argument that just because you don't see a "Copyright 1994, Yamaha Motor
Corporation" statement that the book isn't copyright doesn't hold up. It's kind
of like saying that just because you didn't see the sign, the road you're
riding on has no speed limit. You may not know what the limit is, just as you
may not know who holds the copyright on a particular work, but you're probably
aware that virtually every road has some speed limit, if only the default
national limit (just as I hold copyright of this e-mail message, by default).
Of course, there are more works that are no longer copyrighted (due to age or
the creator explicitly giving up that right) than there are nice, fast, twisty
roads upon which the government has chosen not to place a speed limit. :)
