Thought you guys might be interested in hearing about the brief results of a
dyno shootout in the campground at a fairly sizeable sportbike rally I went
to this past weekend. This was my first sportbike rally and there were
about 500 machines there, of which I only saw 1 HD, and 1 Wing. Yee-haa!
At around 9pm they opened up the dyno which ran till midnight, and for $20
bucks you could impress all your peers with the awesome power of your
scooter. The beer was flowing freely, so I only have a couple of memorable
items to mention.
Approx. 10 RC51's averaging around 110hp.
Several VTRs and TLRs. Sounded good, can't recall the horsies though.
A 2001 Goldwing was supposed to go on, but my eyelids weighed too much to
watch.
A Yamaha V-max around 118 hp........then he turned on the nitrous and spun
his tire on the drum, so a reading was unattainable. WOW!
An R1 with approx. 138 hp.
A ZX12 won the event with 155 hp.
And the funniest thing was that most of these guys with their big hp.
machines would never believe it if we told them that we spent most of that
days ride through the twisties - behind my 50 something year old buddy
Bernie on his R1150GS with all of it's 70 some hp. He could probably
outride most of us on a golf cart!
