Good point, Henry! One must compare sport touring bikes to sport touring
bikes. A friend of mine who rode the GTS when it first came out thought it
was heavy. Years later he bought one of those off brand sport tourers,
ummmmmm, the ST1100 or something like that. Suffice to say when he got back
on the GTS after being used to his off brand, he was amazed at how light it
was. Previously he was comparing the GTS to the weight of his similarly off
brand GS 750 ES Suzuki. It is all relative. Besides, riding a motorcycle that
is a bit heavier than the new sport bikes help teach you to ride
smoothly..... which leads to riding faster easier...... which is all good!
