Hey all,
I just got back from my little Ironbutt (Saddlesore 1000) ride on the
GTS. I rode from Chicago to New Mexico on Friday. We drove back
yesterday. 2,500 total miles. The bike performed flawlessly. No
problems whatsoever. My friend's Harley broke down - surprise.
I put new Pirelli Dragon GTS tires on before the trip, and they are a
very nice tire. The bike carried a tent, sleeping bag, clothes, and
lots of other stuff (~60lbs) w/no problem. I also changed the chain &
sprockets to the #530 size before I left. I used 1qt. of oil during the
course of the trip. My average fuel consumption was 46mpg, with a high
of 55, and a low of 42. This was driving ~80mph most of the time. The
Throttlemeister cruise control was by far the most important
modification I made for this trip! The Heli bars were nice too. I may
be looking into a different(than stock) seat, however - I'm 5'8". I
used the stock windshield instead of the MRA for better weather
protection.
