Sure Jeff. I'm starting to get excited about fixing mine this winter. Not that I understand all the stuff you've been talking about, but hey, I'm sure I can get through it with the help of all our talented listers! Daren, Sorry to contact you "off-list" but my reply to your message is being kicked back from the list server today for unknown fatal reasons. Could you please post the following reply to the server for me? Thanks, Jeff B. Daren, I don't know about solving the "world's greatest mysteries", but I do know that this is day 3 (150 miles of commuting) and my GTS is surge free. I really was beginning to think that the problem was in the ECU and that I was on my way to spending $$$$ for a new one however, before I could managed to borrow a '94 ECU I gave this problem a little more thought. It really does come down to the ECU in the end, not that it is good or bad but you have to remember that its still just a dumb computer. As such, it only makes changes according to the instructions or signals it is receiving from all of the other sensor on the bike. (There really aren't a lot of sensors with adjustability on the GTS.) Yamaha did find it necessary to make the TPS set point adjustable, so this is where I focused my attention. I truly don't understand what the ECU is doing with the TPS signal, I only know that the TPS set point has a dramatic affect on the performance of the bike. Maybe RSRBOB can provide comment on the technical aspects of the TPS. Best Regards, Jeff B.
