Hey all.
I wanted to give some reports on Biketoberfest and one of our brother
GTS'ers. Pat ran his first sanctioned race events this week at Daytona. He
rode in a 4 man 200 mile endurance race and the team ended up placing 5th out
of 13 in class. Not too bad considering three of the four riders had never
ridden Daytona or raced before. Unfortunately, in his sprint races,
everything was cut short and he never really got more than a couple laps in
in those so not much to report.
On a sad note, a racer was killed when a track official apparently lost his
balance and stumbled into the race line at the start finish. He was hit by a
racer at full speed. The official suffered two broken legs but the racer was
killed. Apparently, as a result of the impact, he lost control and shot
straight up the track and hit the wall head on, splitting his helmet open.
