Hey gang, just a note on my completion of another Saddlesore 1000 in the
form of the BabyButt 1000! This year there were 68 entrants but only 65
showed up & two dropped out along the way & one crashed about a mile from
the start! long story on that one. Anyway,we got under way at 5:00am
Sat.,went due east out of San Diego on I-8, through the dunes of Glamis & up
to Blythe, Ca.where we took the I-10 E. again. from there we kind of
meandered over to Presscott, Az. then over to Flagstaff & yet east again on
Rt.66 but now we were blessed with rain! buckets & buckets of the stuff! Not
really cold but the electric vest was nice anyway. Well, from there we went
north on US89A through Glen Canyon, beautiful country,& on to Zion Natinal
Park in Utah. by now it was much colder, still raining & was dark now to
boot! I don't know how many of you have been to Zion but its a 35mph limit
on a narrow road that has the color of wet, red Oklahoma clay & makes ya
think you're gonna slide any second! OK! Got on through more pucker factor
(my Corbin now has a permanent dimple)& was on our way to Hurricane & St.
George,Ut.& now were flying towards Las Vegas (weaving like a drunk from
lack of sleep). The lights woke me up a bit, just enough to carry me on to
Laughlin,NV. & the finish! 19 hours & 1,130 mi. later WE'RE DONE!!
YIPPEEEE!! lots of fun but I can wait for another one for a while! P.S. I
didn't shave my butt for this ride , Kevin!! hahaha
