The Taurus SHO, 89 to 95 had a V-6 4 valve engine made by Yamaha. It started as a 3.0 liter, then grew to 3.2 at some point. I think in 96 the Taurus SHO got a 3.5 liter V-8, and that engine also was made by Yamaha I believe. That V8 car was a bit of a disapointment because it did not really perform any better than the previous generation, and I believe Ford dropped the SHO in 99.
The only problems I ever had with my SHO were related to the cruise control not working. The engine was perfect, no problems. It was rated at 220 hp, but I think really generated about 235-240 hp, which is quite good for the size. My car, a 92, was destroyed in an accident when somebody ran off the road and into my neighbors driveway, hitting her full size van, which was pushed into my car in my driveway. The three cars caught fire because the van's gas tank was punctured, destroying all three and almost catching my house on fire. I have not heard of any systemic problems with the Yamaha V6, I was under the impression it was a fine motor. There is a rusted out hulk of a SHO around here with about 200k, but the motor is fine. -----Original Message----- From: Rob Chapman [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, February 06, 2002 12:37 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: 02 Sensors What sort of car has a Yamaha engine, Peter?
