OK, after getting the first one apart and having a good look at the glue that was used, I decided that I would place the second filter in the freezer for a few minutes. That made the glue more brittle and the second filter came apart quite easily with a tap from a screwdriver handle.
Now comes the fun part, cutting up and fitting the new K&N. Actually, the pictures I saw showed cutting the rubber ends off of the K&N???? But now that I've taken the old ones apart and I've checked the width, I think that the K&N will fit just perfect with the rubber ends left on (and less work too). Think they used another model of K&N. I like being able to leave the rubber seals on because the wire and cloth filter is actually moulded into the rubber, and it will be easy to seal to the plastic sides with some silicone. I'll have to finish it on another night though. Breathing easier already. GWN Daren
