Hi Jason. 1 thought that comes to mind is that they're coming to the magic
10 year old mark. Around the 10 year mark usually the trend is that the
maufacturers tend to stop or limit spare parts manufacturing & availability.
The recent trend from Japan is to discontinue or dissasociate themselves
with older models. They prefer you buy a new motorcycle than fix or maintain
your older one. Another is that many realize it's coming time to spend some
serious buckaroos to maintain & or upkeep or restoration is around the
bend. You know things like that. The upside to it all is that when the trend
is over & it usually takes a couple years or so that the rare beauties
become even more sought after & really hard to find. At that time time the
one's that have them benefit the most. Be it in resale or showing them off.
There's also the recent decline in motorcycle sales worldwide, many people
are getting out of motorcycling altogether due to age & complicated by the
rising costs of motorcycles & their parts & service, licensing, insurance
,things like that. It has come to the point where it's cheaper to own &
operate a 4 legged beast. I'm in the process of accumulating the critical
high wear components that will become hard to find in the next few years &
after I'm done I will be in the market for another GTS. You just have to
look at the automobile trend(s) from the the last 30 years or so to see that
the same thing is happening to the motorcycle. The biggest difference being
that motorcycles have become real good only in the last 20 years & they are
much less in numbers than the automobiles so there will be a void in the
upcoming years. A void that will be very interesting indeed. Ok! So I had
more than 1 thought . Be good. Good luck. Peter Piazza
