> What does it mean, the FJR will come in August to USA? > In Europe we got it in March 2001. > I thought the States will always get the 1st edition? Actually, Helmuth, we in the 'States get far fewer bikes from Yamaha than Europe (and presumably other parts of the world). I once asked a Yamaha factory rep why this is, and he told me of the great expense in bringing a new bike in. There is all of the department of transportation certification, emissions certification, and other things that I can't recall.
Look at the Yamaha USA web site (http://www.yamaha-motor.com/), and the Yamaha Europe web site (http://www.yamaha-motor-europe.com/). You'll see that we have FAR fewer bikes than those on your continent. I too think I'd pass on the XJR, as I'm happy with my GTS. But I can tell you, I'd be seriously interested in the TDM900. One problem I've noticed with Yamaha USA is that they put more trust in their marketing department than they should. Time after time Yamaha engineers produce innovative, wonderful bikes, and either the bikes never get here, or they last only a season or two before Yamaha gives up and says that "they won't sell here." Clearly their marketing department has no idea how to sell them. It seems to me that with products as good as Yamaha builds, even an incompetent marketing department should be able to build sales! > Will the FJR have ABS in USA? > In Europe its not intended to get the bike with ABS. I don't know, but I'll bet RSRBob knows. How about it, Bob?
