AGM batteries are starting to make inroads in the boating industry too.
DEKA has been around for a while. I am not sure if they just resell some
other makers batteries or they actually make their own.....

East Penn has just come out with a battery they are selling under the
trade name of Deka. It is called their Power Sports battery. It uses
absorbed glass mat technology which means that the acid is in a gel form.
The upside is that the battery cannot leak acid, I had one damaged in
shipping, a hole was punched in the case but no acid leaked out and the
battery still had all it's amps. The battery will hold a charge longer
than conventional lead/acid with less care. It has higher cranking amps
and, at my local parts store was actually cheaper than the conventional
yuasa. There are only a few part numbers but they do make one to fit a
GTS. Deka has been hitting up the local motorcycle shops but I have seen
them at my local auto parts store, (real parts store not retail chain
stores).
