In your message dated: Thu, 02 May 2002 10:29:14 BST, The pithy ruminations from Helder Pinto Santos on <Re: Fw: GTS numbers> were: => Even though this is my first post, I've been on this list for a couple of => months and learned a lot from you guys!
If you've been on the list for a few months, you need to check out signature lines and e-mail addresses a little more closely. => I live in Lisbon, Portugal and own a 99 GTS. Nice. I've heard from another Portuguese GTS owner that there were more GTSs sold in Portugal than in any other country in Europe. => It seems to me that, besides UK, there are no GTSers from Europe and most of => the bikes are from 93 or 94! Are you talking about the data that Rob Chapman posted? That was informal, and never a complete list of countries or owners. => Is there an explanation for this? Well, there are quite a few GTSers in Europe...I'm in Croatia, there are a couple in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Portugal and at least one in Sweden. There was a message on the list about a Euro-GTS meeting in August that was sent out about 2 weeks ago. As for the '93 or '94 model year...Yamaha only manufactured the GTS in '93, with some slight modifications in '94. Every bike, including your '99, was made in '93 or '94. The bodywork got painted different colors for different years (although my '94 actually has the red color from a '93 underneath). Keep in mind that the rubber bits (hoses, seals, gaskets, spark plug wires & boots, brake lines, etc.) all had about 5~6 years to oxidize and harden before you even rode your bike home. Lovely, eh? Now, check the maintenance schedule... => => Regards to all of you, => => Helder Pinto Santos => Mark ----- Mark Bergman Biker, Rock Climber, Unix mechanic, IATSE #1 Stagehand http://wwwkeys.pgp.net:11371/pks/lookup?op=get&search=bergman%40merctech.com I want a newsgroup with a infinite S/N ratio!
