Sounds like rider prowess was the key. Sure the ZX-11 is an older bike...but that TL
should have kept up no problem all things being equal.

Just a quick note for posterity that I rode a canyon
south of Denver this week with a TL1000 and a ZX-11,
and the GTS smoked them both. The great part was that
neither of the other riders new what the GTS was, and
they both seemed to think it was some kind of
hopped-up Gold Wing.
After the ride, they were quite surprised by the
amount of time they spent admiring the view of my tail
light.
