It is an overly lean condition. I have experienced it to a lesser degree at lower elevations than what you were at. The ECU does have an atmospheric pressure sensor that is supposed to compensate for that. My guess is if a bike has lived a very long time at a constant elevation, the sensor fails to react due to age. RSRBOB
