I have the gel pad in my original stock seat after having the foam shaved so my stubs come closer to touching the ground. Went to Rich's in Seattle to have it done. I probably had up to 2 inches of foam cut and I underestimated how much that would affect comfort even with the gel pad. Acording to Rich, the gell pad is "worth 2" of foam"! Uh, I don't tink so. With that said, I'm sure the gel makes it quite a bit better than not having it. I've done some 600 plus mile days and if I get off for a few moments for gas or espresso, all in all it's not too bad.
