Oh, boy. Here we go.

This has been discussed before. There are several points of view but I
think the safest way, I feel, is to first make sure that all the
butterfly are closed together and open together. Then use the air screws
for fine adjustment. These things really shouldn't be off much to begin
with, so be careful.

The manual says to use the air screws only. In theory, the butterfly
valves should never need to be adjusted. There are somewhat 'hard' wired
to a shaft. Unless something has been done to upset that, all
adjustments should be at the air screws.

That's just my take. I've rebuilt quite a few carb's in the past. They
don't generally have air screws so adjustments are made via the bv's.
The EFI units on our bikes are supposed to be done with the screws
instead.
