Peter, I just bought a new Ohlins for the rear for $557 (traded up one spring rate)--took a while to get (3 months) but no down time waiting on the rebuild(Circuit One says ONLY ONE WEEK or so with next day air!). I really like the external preload adjustment. If you want to "borrow" my shock to rebuild and then give me yours when you get the rebuild back let me know. Mine had 40,000 but I'm fatter, run GIVI's full of junk, and make my wife ride occasionally so it is probably in worse shape than yours now. It's just sitting in the Ohlins box in the garage, put it to good use! FL Kev PS--I guess I can extend this offer to anybody in the area (Florida-ish) who would like to rebuild and not lose any riding time.
