First off, Rob, what's a "Pom"?  Secondly, the Super Constellation was also
an airliner built by Lockheed--according to the website (below) construction
started in the late 30s, and it went into civilian service in the mid 40s
(after the war).  What set it apart was it's triple tail.  I remember my dad
flew on them in the late 50s and 60s when he was on business.  I can still
remember them at National Airport in DC (now mistakenly called Ronald Reagan
Airport) with their long landing gear and that very unique tail.
