I made it to CT and back OK. I left here at 3:30 am (yeah, I couldn't sleep so I just
got up and left) and got to Willimantic, CT at 3:00 pm. I was able to load the bike
Friday night, eat supper (to allow the Hartford traffic to die down) and then head on
back. I drove till 1:00 am Saturday morning then pulled off in a rest stop somewhere
in PA and slept to 4:00 am, then continued on home arriving about 10:15 am. 1,490
miles in 24 hours 12 minutes (1452 minutes) elapsed driving time for about a 60 mph
average. Rained most of the way back and I had to unload, cleanup and put the new (it
has 1,200 miles on it) 2003 FJR1300 Yamaha away before eating some breakfast and
crashing (getting some sleep, not really crashing). I have not even ridden an FJR1300
yet but, if it's anything like my old FJ that I put 80,000 miles on and is still
running, I know I'm going to like it

We are very fortunate in having roads like I-77, I-64 and I-81 around here and in VA.
Beautiful drives and scenery galor. Once you get into PA, NY and CT the roads are
really beat up and the traffic is constant. As bad as I-81 is around Roanoke, it's
still better than in most other states. I was on I-81 for 468 miles. Almost never
ending construction.

There were several dead deer along I-81 in northern VA but once you got to PA, and NY,
they were everywhere. I guess it's because they don't have cleared areas along the
interstates and the woods come right up to the road in some cases. That eastern area
of PA is mostly wooded and they have a ton of deer. I would guess they pick the dead
ones up regularly but still, there were many freshly killed along the road.
