Derek...you have the only reply that is plausible in my book. NYC is a place you either love or hate...(me I hate it...but I lived in Toronto for 8 years...and there's no comparison) Riding in NY State doesn't start until you get up towards West Point...the island, and city I simply would put my bike in! I guess riding out west is like skiing..once you've done the west coast stuff..skiing out east just isn't the same either...haven't skied out east since I did Big Sky in Montana. Or Keystone, or Alpine Valley...
Now as for fun riding in NY try the finger lakes area, up near Lake Placid is great too...I've had some great rides back from Norwalk heading off og route 17 towards the reservoirs for NYC...no cars, great sweeping turns, etc. A fun thing to do on a sunny day. We'll have to do a small get together next summer....and then there's always the sport bike rally in Parry Sound Ontario in July...great riding, beer and free housing!
